Malawi’s Atupele Muluzi Questions Credibility Of Election Results
By Smile Hamilton, Malawi
United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi has raised concerns over the credibility of the ongoing election results, saying they do not reflect the true picture of how Malawians voted.
Speaking during a press conference organised by his party, Muluzi claimed that some of the results sheets being released show irregularities, including figures that appear to have been altered by pen.
He said such discrepancies cast doubt on the transparency of the electoral process and urged authorities to investigate thoroughly. “The results being presented are not a true reflection of the will of the people. We have evidence of tally sheets that were tampered with,” said Muluzi.
The UDF leader further appealed to Malawians to remain calm while the matter is being addressed, emphasising that the party will continue to demand accountability from the Malawi Electoral Commission.
