MALAWI: Seven Suspects Arrested In Connection With Robberies In Lilongwe

Kanengo Police in Lilongwe, have arrested seven suspects, including three who were already on bail for previous offences, on suspicion that they are connected to a series of robberies in the area.
According to Kanengo Police spokesperson Gresham Ngwira, the suspects have been identified as Robert Petro, Leonard Kamphale, Patrick Mtengula, Thokozani Henry, Madalitso Chidzanja, Richard Moyo, and Henry Ebele.
Ngwira said the suspects are believed to have been involved in various criminal activities, including a major robbery that took place on June 25. During that incident, the suspects allegedly broke into the house of a businessman in Area 25C, where they stole K35 million in cash, a video camera, and other valuable items, bringing the total value of stolen property to about K40 million.
“After receiving the report, our officers swiftly rushed to the scene and managed to arrest Andrew Zimba. As investigations continued, we apprehended the remaining six suspects. Our investigations are still ongoing to ensure that any other accomplices are also brought to justice,” Ngwira explained.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to the robbery.
