MALAWI: President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika Appointed Honorary Patron of Peace Parks Foundation

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has been appointed Honorary Patron of the Peace Parks Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the creation and management of transfrontier conservation areas across Africa.
In a statement signed by Chief Secretary Justin Saidi, the appointment was described as recognition of President Mutharika’s distinguished leadership and unwavering commitment to sustainable development, regional cooperation, and ecological resilience.
The statement further noted that the honour was conferred by the former President of Mozambique and Chairperson of the Foundation, Joaquim Alberto Chissano.
The Peace Parks Foundation works closely with governments, conservation agencies, and local communities to promote biodiversity protection, eco-tourism development, and cross-border environmental cooperation. President Mutharika’s appointment is expected to strengthen Malawi’s role in regional conservation efforts and enhance collaboration in the sustainable management of shared natural resources.
