Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera, has accepted an invitation to attend the official launch of the Saulos Klaus Chilima (SKC) Foundation, scheduled to take place this Wednesday in Lilongwe.
The invitation was extended by Mary Chilima, widow of the late Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima.
Vice President Chilima tragically passed away in a plane crash on June 10, 2024.
According to Presidential Press Secretary Anthony Kasunda, the First Lady, Monica Chakwera, has also been invited to the event.
Kasunda described the invitation as a great honor to the President and the First Lady, who see the event as an opportunity to reflect on the late Vice President’s contributions to the country’s development.
The SKC Foundation is a non-partisan, non-political organization dedicated to advancing the vision and goals of the late Vice President.
The foundation’s launch coincides with what would have been Chilima’s 52nd birthday.
Mary Chilima stated that the foundation aims to support education for underprivileged students, provide aid during crises, and promote self-sufficiency and youth leadership development.
