Malawi Police IG Praises Blue Eagles FC for 2024 FDH Bank Cup Victory

The Malawi Inspector General of Police (IGP) Merlyne Yolamu has expressed her pride and excitement over Blue Eagles FC’s remarkable victory in the 2024 FDH Bank Cup.
Despite facing relegation to a lower league, the team exhibited outstanding resilience by defeating several elite league teams, including the highly competitive FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC.
Yolamu commended the team’s performance, highlighting their ability to rise above expectations.
The IGP directed that the K35 million prize be distributed equally among the players, acknowledging their hard work and commitment throughout the tournament.
The Central Region Football Association’s General Secretary, Antonio Manda, also applauded Blue Eagles FC’s success.
He emphasized that their victory was a testament to the players’ dedication and determination, which they demonstrated from the start of the FDH Bank Cup.
The prize presentation ceremony took place on Monday, 2nd September, at the Police Officers’ Mess and attended by several dignitaries who congratulated the team for bringing honor to the police force through their sporting achievements.
Blue Eagles FC clinched the 2024 FDH Bank Cup title on Sunday, 1st September, after defeating FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC in a tense penalty shootout which ended 3-2 following a goalless draw in regulation time.
