Police in Kasungu have arrested four people on suspicion of being behind a series of theft cases in the district.
Kasungu Police spokesperson Joseph Kachikho identified the suspects as 36-year-old Access Jiya, 22-year-old Yohane Banda, 40-year-old Alex Yonzima, and 22-year-old Patrick Phiri.

According to Kachikho, the suspects were apprehended following thorough investigations carried out by detectives after reports of rising theft incidents in the area.
“The suspects were found in possession of hand mattresses, wheelbarrows, duvets, plastic chairs, plates, computers, and floor tiles. Some of the items have already been identified by their rightful owners,” said Kachikho.
Police further disclosed that Jiya, Banda, and Yonzima come from different villages within Kasungu District, while Phiri hails from Chikwadwa Village under Traditional Authority Chakhadza in Dowa.
