The Public Appointments Committee of Parliament has confirmed George Partridge as Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM), following his appointment by President Peter Mutharika.
He replaces Dr MacDonald Mafuta Mwale, who served as RBM Governor before his replacement.
RBM Public Relations Officer Boston Maliketi Banda said the central bank has received official communication on the appointment.
“We have received official communication regarding the appointment of Mr Partridge as Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi,” said Banda.
At the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Partridge joins Deputy Governor for Economics and Regulation Henry Mathanga, Deputy Governor for Operations Kisu Simwaka, and Executive Director for Corporate Services Mercy Kumbatira.
Before his appointment, Partridge served as Minister of Industrialisation, Business, Trade and Tourism in the current adm
inistration.
