The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) has announced plans to meet both outgoing President Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and President-elect Professor Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on matters of national importance.
This comes after Chakwera lost the September 16 elections, in which Mutharika secured victory with 56 per cent of the vote.

PAC spokesperson Bishop Clifford Matonga told African Culture TV that the engagement with Chakwera will focus on his future political role
“We want to encourage Dr Chakwera to rebuild his party and provide effective checks and balances while in opposition,” said Bishop Matonga.
He further explained that the meeting with Mutharika will aim at setting expectations for his incoming administration.
“Our message to Professor Mutharika will be clear: we want good governance, accountability, and immediate attention to the pressing challenges Malawians are facing,” he added.
