National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has signed an agreement with the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) to donate K150 million towards the establishment of an endowment fund.

According to the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Harold Jiya, the fund will support student scholarships, research, and innovation, to promote education and national development.

Speaking to African Culture TV, Jiya emphasised the importance of investing in education, saying, “Education is the foundation of national growth. As a bank, we believe that empowering students through scholarships and research support is key to building a prosperous Malawi.”
MUBAS Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor Nancy Chitera, hailed the donation as a major boost to the university’s mission of transforming lives through education. She said, “This endowment fund is a vote of confidence in our institution. It will benefit more than 50 per cent of our students who face financial challenges.”
Chitera further assured that the fund will be handled with accountability and transparency, stating, “We will manage this endowment sustainably to ensure it continues supporting students for generations to come and attracts more partners to join this noble cause.”
