Malawi Musician Isaac Liwotcha Appeals for K36 Million Medical Support
By Smile Hamilton Malawi
One of Malawi’s well-known musicians, Isaac Liwotcha, has appealed for K36 million to receive treatment for a spinal cord condition he has been battling for the past five years.
Liwotcha said his condition has worsened to the point where he can no longer work, making it difficult to provide for his family. He added that his children are unable to attend school due to lack of fees.
According to Liwotcha, doctors at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre advised him that the only solution to his illness is a medical operation at Yashoda Private Hospital in India.
“I am appealing to well-wishers and organizations to assist me so that I can undergo the operation in India, and also to support my family with basic needs,” he said.
Isaac Liwotcha previously performed with Alleluya Band under Sir Paul Banda and later joined Zembani Band led by the late Lucius Banda. He became popular for playing instruments and singing songs such as Chozemba, Tikhale a Chifundo, among others.
