The Ministry of Finance in Malawi is encouraging young people in Mchinji to adopt the electronic payment system, as the world shifts towards digital technology and transactions.
This call to action was made during the ongoing Digital Financial Services (DSF) awareness campaign, a joint initiative by the Ministry and the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
According to DFS team leader Joshua Kunkumbira, embracing digital banking through platforms like e-banks, Airtel Money, and TNM Mpamba is crucial for young people. This will not only help pass innovations to future generations but also reduce waiting times for banking services.
Charity Makina, a student at Gandali Community Day Secondary School, highlighted the benefits of electronic payments in combating scams and fraud.
With the rising number of scammers, digital payments offer a secure way to save and send money.
By promoting e-payments, Malawi aims to align with global trends in digital financial services, enhancing financial inclusion and economic growth.
