The Minister of Health, Adrian Chikumbe, has appealed to journalists in Malawi to intensify reporting on health issues, especially on the fight against various diseases.
He made the remarks at Loweluka in Mzuzu during a meeting with members of the Northern Chapter of the Nyika Media Club.
Chikumbe, who is also the spokesperson for the Ministry, informed the journalists about health-related issues affecting the country and the government’s efforts to address them.
He emphasized the need for journalists to write comprehensive stories on diseases such as Cholera, Chikuku, and Mpox, which have ravaged the country. Chikumbe explained that some countries have failed to contain these diseases due to poor reporting.
The Minister urged Malawians to follow all measures designed to prevent the spread of diseases. He encouraged journalists to report extensively on health issues to keep the public informed.
Feston Malekezo, Chairperson of the Nyika Media Club, thanked the Minister for the engagement, while asking journalists to utilize the knowledge gained from the meeting to improve their reporting.
