MALAWI: Minister Cracks Down On Unscrupulous Business Practices In Limbe

By Smile Hamilton, Malawi
Malawian Minister of Trade, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, on Friday stormed two shops in Limbe, Malawi, accused of unfair business practices.
The first shop, Saya Investment, located near Limbe Police Station, was found to be failing to provide customers with receipts for their purchases.
Upon inspection, Minister Mumba discovered that the shop owner, Toki, was not issuing receipts to customers, and in some cases, was providing a single receipt to multiple customers. This practice is not only unfair but also illegal.
Minister Mumba also visited another shop, Xinxing Investment Company, where he found similar irregularities.
The shop was not displaying price tags for its goods, and the owner was not providing receipts to customers.
The Minister’s crackdown on these unscrupulous business practices is aimed at protecting consumers and promoting fair trade practices in Malawi. The owners of the two shops have been arrested and will face charges for their actions.
