MALAWI: MACRA Urges MultiChoice Malawi to Review DStv and GOtv Prices

The Acting Director General of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), Mayamiko Nkoloma, has asked MultiChoice Malawi, the operator of DStv and GOtv services in the country, to review its pricing in order to make the services more affordable to many Malawians.
According to a statement published on MACRA’s official Facebook page, Nkoloma made the request during a meeting with senior officials from MultiChoice Malawi.
During the engagement, MACRA emphasized the need for subscription prices that reflect the economic realities faced by many consumers in Malawi, while ensuring continued access to television and digital broadcasting services.
In response, MultiChoice Malawi Managing Director, Averess Dhlovu Chella, said the company is making efforts to set prices that are fair and considerate to customers.
However, MultiChoice Malawi also appealed to MACRA for support in facilitating smoother processes that would allow the company to remit revenue generated in Malawi to its headquarters in Sou
