MALAWI: MACODA Commends 2026/27 National Budget, Calls For Greater Support for Persons with Disabilities

The Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA) has expressed satisfaction with the government’s 2026/27 National Budget, describing it as a progressive step towards protecting and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities in Malawi.
Speaking in response to the budget presentation, MACODA Public Relations Officer, Harriet Kachimanga, commended the government for prioritising inclusion, particularly in improving equitable access to assistive products for persons with disabilities.
Kachimanga said the council is encouraged by the recognition of disability issues in the national development agenda. “We appreciate the government’s commitment to ensuring that persons with disabilities are not left behind, especially through improved access to assistive products,” she said.
