MALAWI: Kawale Police impounds 40 Vehicles For Contravening Traffic Regulations

Police in Kawale through its Traffic department, on Thursday, impounded 40 motor vehicles for contravening various road traffic regulations.
The Station Traffic Officer, Assistant Superintendent Suezen Kamgwawo, led the team in an operation within the road network of Kawale to ensure sanity.
Motorists who attempted to defeat the operation by using uncharted routes were equally intercepted by traffic riders who were on the assignment.
During the operation, traffic officers patronised Chizanja, Mchesi and road that connects to Kamuzu Institute and Area 23 where motorist have been booked for offences like exceeding seating capacity, worn out tyres and without valid permits just to mention but a few
Min buses and saloon vehicles that are used for conveyance of passengers for business purposes were also on target.
This is just a continuation of the festive season exercise which has seen the station recording a reduced number of road accidents by 25%
