Malawi and Israel have signed new agreements to strengthen the government-to-government arrangement for recruiting workers to Israel.
The agreement will see some nurses being recruited to Israel, among others. This development is a significant step in enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lilongwe, Israel’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Sharren Haskel described the agreement as a great milestone in strengthening ties between Malawi and Israel. Haskel warned that any recruitment arrangement outside of the government-to-government framework would be considered illegal.
Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, assured that the government would ensure that workers recruited to Israel adhere to the conditions of the labor agreements. She emphasized the importance of protecting the rights and interests of Malawian workers abroad.
Minister of Health, Khumbzie Kandodo Chiponda, commended the government of Israel for providing Malawi with the opportunity to send health workers to Israel. This collaboration is expected to benefit both countries, with Malawi gaining from the experience and skills acquired by its workers, while Israel addresses its labor needs.
