MALAWI: Former Malawi President Congratulates Ghana’s President-Elect

Former President of Malawi, Arthur Peter Mutharika, has congratulated Ghana’s President-Elect, John Dramani Mahama, on his victory in the presidential election held on November 7, 2024.
Mutharika, also leader of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), extended warm wishes to Mahama.
Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), secured the presidency, defeating Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mutharika’s congratulatory message acknowledges Mahama’s victory and expresses optimism for Ghana’s future under his leadership.
Mutharika’s gesture signifies goodwill and solidarity between the two nations. Notably, Malawi is also preparing for its own presidential elections, where Mutharika’s DPP will participate.
The presidential election in Ghana was characterized by intense campaigning from both major parties. Mahama’s victory marks a significant shift in Ghana’s political landscape.
Mutharika’s congratulatory message reads in part: “I extend warm congratulations to President-Elect John Dramani Mahama on his electoral victory… We look forward to strengthened bilateral relations.”
Ghana’s presidential election has drawn international attention, with observers praising the country’s democratic processes. Mahama’s inauguration is expected to take place soon.
