Ekwendeni Resource Netball Team has claimed the championship in the Kwezy Busses Netball Bonanza, emerging as the best among a competitive field of teams. The victory came after a strong showing in the final, where they dominated Golden Balls with a score of 12 baskets to 5.
The two-day netball bonanza, held from Saturday, September 7th to Sunday, September 8th, drew large crowds to the Katoto Netball Court. Fans gathered in significant numbers, eager to watch their favorite teams battle it out in what turned out to be an exciting and action-packed weekend.
A total of 14 teams participated in the tournament, representing six districts from the Northern Region. The teams showcased exceptional talent and determination, making the competition fierce and thrilling for the spectators.
With a sponsorship of K6 million, the bonanza offered substantial cash prizes for the top teams. Ekwendeni Resource, after their commanding performance in the final, walked away with the top prize of K1 million, affirming their dominance in the tournament.
Golden Balls, the runners-up, fought valiantly but could not overcome the skillful play of Ekwendeni Resource. Despite their loss in the final, they pocketed K800,000 for their efforts, securing their place as a top contender in the competition.
Karonga Queens finished in third place after an impressive showing throughout the tournament. They were rewarded with a cash prize of K600,000, rounding off a successful weekend of netball at the Kwezy Busses Bonanza.
