Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Joyce Chitsulo, has passed away.

Chitsulo, who was a Member of Parliament for Mwanza West elected on a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ticket, died on 06 June 2025.

Minister of Local Government, Richard Chimwendo Banda, has confirmed the news. though the exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

She served her constituents with dedication and was known for her commitment to public service.

Before her appointment as Deputy Minister, Chitsulo chaired the Public Appointments Committee of Parliament, where she played a key role in overseeing public service appointments and holding institutions accountable.

Her passing marks a significant loss to both her constituency and the nation.
