The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED), an international organisation that promotes girls’ education across Africa, has donated 240 desks to Kalize Primary School in the area of Senior Chief Kabudula in Lilongwe.
CAMFED works to remove barriers that prevent girls from completing school by providing school fees, uniforms, learning materials and mentorship to vulnerable learners.
Susan Silika, one of CAMFED’s senior officials, said the donation aims to improve learning conditions and help learners perform better in class. “We want every child, especially girls, to learn comfortably and have the support they need to succeed,” she said.
She added that CAMFED will continue working with the Malawi Government to ensure that more schools receive the necessary resources to promote quality education.
Headteacher Isaki Kalusa said the desks will ease learning challenges that learners have faced for years. “Our girls have been sitting on the floor, and this support will greatly improve their classroom experience,” he said.
Director of Primary Education in the Ministry of Education, Grace Milner, thanked CAMFED for the support, saying the donation aligns with government efforts to provide a conducive learning environment for every child. “Partnerships like this help us reach schools that need urgent intervention,” she said.
