Malawi Awaits President’s Decision On Sending Delegation To Pope Francis’ Funeral

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently awaiting guidance from President Lazarus Chakwera on whether Malawi will send an additional delegation to attend the funeral ceremony of Pope Francis, scheduled for this Saturday.
Foreign Affairs Minister Nancy Tembo hinted that a Malawian team might travel to the Vatican to attend the funeral if the president approves.
However, she confirmed that Malawi will be represented at the funeral by its ambassador to the Holy See, Joseph Mpinganjira.
Minister Tembo paid tribute to Pope Francis, describing him as a humble and down-to-earth leader, and extended condolences to Catholics worldwide, showcasing Malawi’s commitment to diplomatic professionalism and respect for international leaders.
