The Government of Malawi has appointed Arthur Chipenda as the Acting Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) on secondment, with immediate effect.
Chipenda, who currently serves as the Director of Information in the Ministry of Information and Digitalisation, takes over the position following the removal and suspension of George Kasakula.
A seasoned civil servant, Chipenda has worked with the Ministry of Information in various capacities for more than 20 years, demonstrating dedication and professionalism in public service.
He also previously served as the spokesperson for the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), where he played a key role in managing government communication and public information dissemination.
According to government sources, Chipenda’s appointment comes as part of efforts to ensure continued leadership and stability at MBC after the removal of Kasakula.
