The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has partnered with Mozambique’s Instituto Nacional de Normalização e Qualidade (INNOQ) to enhance the quality of products from both countries.
This collaboration is expected to improve monitoring and certification of goods traded between Malawi and Mozambique.
MBS Director General, Bernard Thole emphasised the importance of quality consistency, particularly in laboratory calibration and metrology.
He said this will strengthen the standardisation capacity of both countries, enabling them to produce high-quality products that meet international standards.
The partnership will also facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise between the two countries.
As part of this collaboration, MBS hosted a delegation from INNOQ in Blantyre, providing them with insight into MBS’s metrology infrastructure and operations.
This visit aimed to foster a deeper understanding of each other’s standardisation processes, paving the way for improved cooperation and mutual recognition of standards. By working together, Malawi and Mozambique can enhance their competitiveness in the global market, increase customer trust, and drive economic growth.
This partnership demonstrates the commitment of both countries to promoting quality and standards, ultimately benefiting consumers and businesses alike.
