A group of 145 Kenyan workers has successfully arrived in Qatar under a government program aimed at expanding labour migration opportunities.
This marks the completion of the latest deployment, facilitated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The workers, part of an initiative to secure employment abroad, have begun settling into their new roles in various sectors, including construction, hospitality, and domestic work.
The Kenyan government has expressed confidence in the program’s ability to boost the economy through remittances while addressing local unemployment challenges.
Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, confirmed the safe arrival of the workers and emphasised the importance of ensuring their welfare and rights while abroad.
Mutua assured that the government would continue monitoring their conditions and provide necessary support.
This initiative aligns with Kenya’s broader efforts to enhance labour mobility, strengthen bilateral relations, and create a structured framework for safe migration.
The government has also committed to increasing transparency and collaboration with destination countries to safeguard workers’ rights and minimise exploitation.
