KENYA: ‘TikTok High Court’ Group Storms Kenya Church Over Pastor’s Alleged Misconduct

By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
A church service in Kenya turned chaotic when a group of enraged youth, calling themselves the “TikTok High Court,” disrupted the worship session, vandalizing property and confronting congregants over allegations against their pastor.
The Sunday morning service at Christ Impact Church was cut short as the group stormed in, throwing stones and damaging church instruments.
The peaceful atmosphere quickly turned to turmoil, with the sounds of hymns replaced by shouts of outrage.
The demonstrators accused the pastor of sexually abusing young men, including fellow clergymen, and drugging boda boda riders and drivers over a span of two years.
David James, one of the protest leaders, stated, “Pastors engaging in such acts should not hide behind the church.”
Jacquiline Jaycee, another protester, explained their frustration, saying, “We came to confront him, but he wasn’t here. We spoke to church members about the situation.
“We are here to ensure justice is served and prevent further abuse.”
As tensions escalated, police intervened, using tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, who retaliated by destroying church property.
The protesters claim authorities have been shielding the pastor, delaying justice for his victims.
Antony Mulai, another demonstrator, said they had verified at least one victim’s medical records, including receipts for surgeries allegedly linked to the abuse.
He added, “This has been happening for two years with no police action, so we decided to take a stand.”
Despite accusations against him, the pastor fled before the crowd arrived. However, Ruiru Sub-County Police Commander Maina Kibathi maintained that no formal complaint had been lodged against him.
Police have now launched a manhunt for the clergyman as the case continues to spark heated debate both online and offline.
