KENYA: Three-Judge Panel Stops High Court Case In Gachagua’s Petition In Kenya
By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
A panel of three judges has issued temporary orders halting High Court proceedings in a case involving former Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Gachagua, who was impeached in October last year, had challenged the authority of the Deputy Chief Justice in selecting the panel handling his case.
However, Justices Eric Ogola, Anthony Mrima,
and Freda Mugambi dismissed his application.
Following this, Gachagua’s legal team took the matter to the Court of Appeal, arguing that the High Court proceedings should not continue as initially decided.
