Super Metro Sacco has taken action against the crew of one of its buses following a tragic incident in which a passenger was allegedly thrown out of a moving vehicle after an argument over fare.
In a statement released on Wednesday evening , March 12, the company expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
The passenger reportedly died instantly after being ejected from the moving bus.
“We understand the public’s outrage, and it is completely justified. No life should be lost in such a senseless way. At Super Metro, we value human life above all else, and this guides our decisions and actions,” the company stated.
Super Metro reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and pledged full cooperation with authorities to ensure justice is served.
The Sacco also announced plans to reinforce strict safety measures and improve staff training to prevent similar occurrences.
Reports indicate that the incident took place in Kahawa Wendani, where the passenger and the tout got into a disagreement over the fare. The tout insisted that the fare was KSh80, while the passenger only had KSh50.
The dispute escalated, leading the tout to reportedly push the passenger out of the moving bus. An autopsy later revealed that the victim suffered severe injuries, including multiple fractures in the ribs, arms, and legs, resulting in his death.
