KENYA: Ruto Praises Deputy Kindiki As Calm And Reliable Leader For Kenya

By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
Kenyan President William Ruto has commended his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, describing him as a dependable and level-headed partner in steering Kenya’s development agenda.
While speaking during the launch of the Human-Wildlife Conflict Compensation fund in Meru National Park, Ruto emphasized the importance of a deputy who prioritizes national interests over regional loyalty.
He subtly criticized his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua, suggesting that Kindiki serves all Kenyans rather than a specific community.
“Professor Kindiki represents the entire nation. He is focused on delivering our shared vision,” said the president, contrasting Kindiki’s leadership style with that of Gachagua, who was impeached after alleged disagreements and lack of cooperation.
Ruto highlighted that his current deputy is aligned with the government’s objectives in infrastructure, agriculture, and education and works harmoniously with ministers to ensure steady progress.
He noted that Gachagua’s time in office was marred by internal conflicts and resistance to his leadership team, citing tensions with close aides such as blogger Dennis Itumbi and personal assistant Farouk Kibet.
Describing Kindiki as composed, efficient, and non-tribal, Ruto said Kenya’s unity and progress must not be undermined by ethnic politics or personal interests.
“We don’t have room for divisive and incompetent leaders. This country belongs to all of us, and we must move forward together,” he added, referencing a statement made earlier in the year following Gachagua’s ouster.
The president’s remarks come at a time when Kindiki continues to gain recognition for his calm demeanour and dedication to national service.
