KENYA: Ruto Outlines Unity And Development As His Key Goals For Kenya

By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
Kenyan President William Ruto has emphasized that his leadership is driven by two core objectives: fostering national unity and driving the transformation of Kenya.
Speaking during a Sunday church service at African Inland Church in Kibra on May 25, 2025, Ruto stated that bringing Kenyans together is both a legal duty and a spiritual responsibility. Quoting Psalm 133, he underscored that unity is a foundation for strength, and his inclusive leadership style is guided by this belief.
He pointed to the diversity within his administration as a reflection of this commitment to national cohesion.
“With your support and by God’s grace, I have two main tasks as President. First is uniting all Kenyans. This is not just my constitutional obligation it’s a divine calling.
That’s why we’ve built a government that reflects the face of the entire country,” he said.
The Head of State added that national development is the second key pillar of his presidency. He acknowledged the challenges involved in achieving meaningful progress but insisted that it remains essential and achievable.
Ruto highlighted various initiatives aimed at boosting key sectors like agriculture, education, and healthcare. He mentioned ongoing investments in modern market infrastructure and the establishment of County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) as part of his economic agenda.
“This moment offers us a unique chance. Transformation is not simple, but it’s vital. It’s time to deliver on this mandate,” Ruto affirmed.
His remarks come as part of a broader outreach in Kibra, where he also visited fire victims and donated food and relief supplies.
