KENYA: Ruto Attends United Arab Emirates Summit To Strengthen Kenya’s Sustainability And Economic Ties

Kenyan President William Ruto, on Tuesday, attended the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), a high-profile forum that brings together global leaders to discuss advancing sustainability and energy transitions.
During the summit’s opening session, themed “Exploring the Global Energy Transition.”
President Ruto showcased Kenya’s leadership in renewable energy, particularly its significant strides in geothermal power.
He also highlighted opportunities for international partnerships to address global energy challenges and foster green growth.
In addition to addressing the summit, President Ruto has engaged in bilateral talks with prominent global leaders, including his Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
These discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in energy, trade, investment, and technology, which are key pillars of Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
A significant highlight of the visit was the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Kenya and the UAE.
This agreement aims to enhance trade relations, simplify export procedures, and stimulate investments across various sectors.
The UAE, Kenya’s sixth-largest export destination, is an essential market for Kenyan tea, meat products, fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
The agreement is expected to provide better market access for these products and foster increased trade and investment opportunities.
President Ruto’s participation in the summit underscores Kenya’s commitment to sustainability and its leadership role in renewable energy initiatives on the global stage.
