KENYA: Ruto And Kindiki Unveil Major Projects To Boost Western Kenya’s Economy

Kenyan President William Ruto, alongside his deputy Kithure Kindiki, pledged timely completion of multi-billion-shilling development projects.

The project is aimed at spurring economic growth and improving citizens’ lives during their visit to the Western region.

On Thursday, Ruto inaugurated the expansion of the River Nzoia dyke in Budalang’i, Busia County, a project intended to mitigate flooding caused by Lake Victoria’s backflow.

This initiative will protect local infrastructure, including schools and markets, and allow residents to engage in farming and other economic activities without fear of displacement.

“Our administration is committed to fair distribution of resources and the unity of all leaders to drive national development.

We aim to serve all Kenyans without engaging in divisive politics,” Ruto stated.

Deputy President Kindiki highlighted the government’s focus on key sectors such as agriculture, fishing, and sugarcane farming to improve livelihoods.

In Vihiga County, Ruto launched the construction of the Luanda modern market, a Ksh 366 million project set to accommodate 2,000 traders.

The market, which will include facilities such as an Information Communication Technology center, food court, crèche, and cold storage, is expected to be completed within 18 months.

Ruto reaffirmed that after stabilising the economy despite inflation and high interest rates, the government is now focused on delivering critical infrastructure projects, including roads and electricity.

Kindiki emphasised that the government is committed to fostering economic opportunities across all regions while rejecting tribalism and divisive agenda.
