Kenya Reaffirms Support For Peace And Democratic Progress In South Sudan

Kenya has restated its commitment to backing regional efforts that advance peace, stability, and democratic governance in South Sudan.


President William Ruto made the assurance after meeting the South Sudan Council of Churches at State House Nairobi, where church leaders briefed him on the country’s political situation and called for strengthened support toward peace, dialogue, the constitution-making process, and preparations for the December 2026 elections.
President Ruto said Kenya will continue working with regional partners to ensure South Sudan stays on the path of unity and nation-building, adding:
“A peaceful and prosperous South Sudan is essential for the progress of our region, and Kenya will stand with all stakeholders to advance reconciliation and long-term stability.”

He said Nairobi remains committed to collaborative efforts that secure lasting peace for the people of South Sudan and the wi
der region.
