KENYA: Public Service Cabinet Secretary Nominee Ruku Declares Net Worth Of Ksh.377 Million

Public Service Cabinet Secretary nominee Geoffrey Ruku has disclosed his net worth as Ksh.377 million during his vetting session before lawmakers in Nairobi on Monday.
Ruku emphasized his commitment to promoting fairness and transparency within the public service and ensuring equitable representation for all Kenyan communities if confirmed.
He vowed to advocate for minority groups, including persons with disabilities, and to combat corruption, asserting, “I will serve without fear or favor, tackle unemployment, and create job opportunities free from nepotism.”
He also proposed the implementation of a digital system to eliminate issues related to ghost workers within the public sector.
Ruku, a Member of Parliament for Mbeere North and a close ally of President William Ruto, gained attention for sponsoring the controversial Assembly and Demonstration Bill in 2024, which aimed to regulate public assemblies and demonstrations.
Although he later retracted the bill due to public backlash, he defended his intentions, stating that the legislation was meant to protect individuals not involved in demonstrations.
This nomination follows the dismissal of Justin Muturi, who had publicly opposed government actions related to allegations of abductions and killings of youth amidst last year’s protests. Muturi’s son was among those reported missing.
Ruku’s nomination was made official on March 26, 2025.
