KENYA: President Ruto Announces State Funeral For The Late Raila Odinga

Kenyan President William Ruto, has officially proclaimed that the late Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, will be accorded a full State Funeral with Military Honours, in recognition of his immense contribution to Kenya’s democracy, governance, and national unity.

In his proclamation from State House Nairobi, the President described Odinga as “a statesman whose courage, sacrifice, and devotion to the people of Kenya shaped our nation’s democratic journey.”

As part of the national mourning period, the Kenyan flag will be flown at half-mast at State House, all public buildings, military bases, and Kenyan diplomatic missions worldwide until the day of his interment.
President Ruto emphasised that the government will work closely with the Odinga family to ensure a dignified farewell befitting his stature as a national hero and freedom fighter.
“Kenya mourns one of her greatest sons. May his legacy continue to inspire generations to come,” the President said.
Details of the funeral arrangements and national memorial service are expected to be released by the State Funeral Committee in due course.
