Kenya: President Ruto And Raila Odinga Cement Partnership Between United Democratic Alliance And Orange Democratic Movement

Kenyan President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga have officially entered into a strategic agreement uniting the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The deal was signed on Friday 7,2025 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, signifying a major political shift aimed at addressing the country’s social, economic, and political challenges.
The agreement is structured around a ten-point plan focusing on key national issues, including the full execution of the National Dialogue Committee report, strengthening devolution, ensuring inclusive government appointments, and fair distribution of resources.
It also highlights economic opportunities for young people, the fight against corruption, and measures to curb wastage in public spending.
Additionally, the pact commits to a comprehensive review of Kenya’s public debt, guarantees the right to peaceful demonstrations, and seeks to prevent conflicts of interest in leadership.
During the signing ceremony, President Ruto stressed the importance of unity in driving national progress.
He acknowledged that while political parties may have distinct strategies, their ultimate aim is the transformation of Kenya.
“The desire for a change that benefits everyone has never been stronger. Though our political approaches may differ, we share a common vision. We must take bold steps toward national transformation—this is the way forward,” Ruto stated.
One of the key aspects of the agreement is the renewed push for a public debt audit, a move Ruto has previously advocated. With broader political support, he hopes to implement the audit more effectively.
This collaboration marks a significant moment in Kenya’s political history, bridging the gap between two major political figures.
While the long-term impact remains uncertain, this partnership signals a shift in governance and a potential path toward lasting reforms.
