KENYA: Petrol Prices Rise By Ksh. 2.69 As Energy And Petroleum Regularoty Authority Updates Rates

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has revealed new petroleum pricing adjustments that will take effect from June 15 to July 14, 2025.
Under these changes, the price of Super Petrol will increase by Ksh. 2.69 per litre, while both diesel and kerosene will see a decrease of Ksh. 1.95 and Ksh. 2.06, respectively.
In Nairobi, the new prices will see Super Petrol priced at Kshs. 177.32, Diesel at Kshs. 162.91, and Kerosene at Kshs. 146.93, effective from midnight for a duration of 30 days.
In Mombasa, the updated costs will be Ksh. 161.74 for Super Petrol, Ksh. 147.34 for Diesel, and Ksh. 131.37 for Kerosene.
EPRA confirmed that these retail prices include a 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) as stipulated by the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, and the revised excise duty rates adjusted for inflation according to Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
As per the Petroleum Act 2019 and relevant legal notices, EPRA calculated the maximum allowable wholesale and retail prices for petroleum products to take effect for the specified period.
Between April and May 2025, the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol rose by 0.35%, increasing from US590.24 per cubic metre. In contrast, the landed cost of Diesel declined by 2.42%, from US580.23, and Kerosene dropped by 5.14%, from US569.00 during the same timeframe.
