Police in Nyatike, Migori County, are currently searching for a 62-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting his 11-year-old daughter.
According to Chief Eunice Adongo, the accused allegedly committed the crime twice before the case came to her attention.
The chief reported that the suspect fled his home along with his wife, who is the girl’s mother, and other family members to an undisclosed location, prompting an active search by law enforcement.
Chief Adongo explained that the suspect escaped upon realizing the authorities were investigating the matter.
She also noted that the mother has sided with the father, claiming his innocence and expressing her unwillingness to participate in legal proceedings, fearing it could jeopardize her marriage.
The chief confirmed that the young victim has undergone medical examinations and is presently in a safe environment while the search for her parents continues.
She emphasized the need for parents to respect the rights of their children and not obstruct the course of justice.
