KENYA: Oburu Oginga Elected Chair Of Kenya’s Senate Energy Committee

Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has been chosen to lead the Senate Standing Committee on Energy, securing the position through a unanimous vote on Thursday.
The committee is responsible for overseeing the exploration, production, regulation, and maintenance of energy resources, including fossil fuels.
Oginga takes over from Nyeri Senator Wamatinga Wahome, who previously held the role.
In his new position, Oginga will be tasked with evaluating and addressing matters concerning Kenya’s Ministry of Energy, which is currently led by Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.
Additionally, during the same session, Wajir Senator Abass Mohamed and nominated Senator Catherine Mumma were unanimously elected as chair and vice-chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations, respectively.
