As Kenya gears up for the 2027 General Election, political leaders are calling on citizens, especially the youth to register in large numbers, framing voter registration as the foundation of democratic participation.

Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga, elder brother to ODM Leader Raila Odinga, has urged young Kenyans to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise to secure their place in shaping the nation’s leadership.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Oburu criticized opposition figures who continue to attack the administration, saying they should focus on mobilizing voters instead.
“The Broad-Based Government is not about positions, it is about unity, stability, and delivering services to our people. Those opposing it are opposing progress,” he said.
Dr. Oburu further described the arrangement as one of the most inclusive governance models Kenya has witnessed, noting that it represents cooperation beyond party lines and offers a stable framework for national development.
His remarks come as leaders allied to the Broad-Based Government challenge opposition politicians to pursue change through the ballot rather than political rhetoric.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is targeting the registration of 6.3 million new voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
