By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
A businessman filmed violently attacking Kenyan content creator Bella Comedy during the Kutit Culture event at Nairobi’s Carnivore Grounds has been taken into custody and charged.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed that officers from Lang’ata Police Station tracked down and apprehended Benard Kipkosgei, widely known as Pavilion Motiriot, after the disturbing clip drew widespread condemnation on social media.
In the viral video, Kipkosgei is seen repeatedly hitting and kicking Bella Comedy. Reports indicate that during the August 9, 2025 assault, the comedian lost a mobile phone, Ksh.30,000 in cash, and other personal belongings.
Public outrage was swift, with many Kenyans online demanding quick justice.
Police say they acted promptly to follow the suspect’s movements before making the arrest.
Kipkosgei was presented in court on August 11, facing charges of assault and robbery with violence.
He pleaded not guilty, and the case will be mentioned on August 18, 2025.
In an emotional video on TikTok, Bella described the ordeal as degrading and painful, questioning why the accused resorted to violence instead of reporting any grievances.
She expressed deep disappointment that several men stood by and watched as she was attacked, despite her fans having contributed to help her attend the event.
The comedian further shared that the assault caused her severe physical harm, claiming it left her unable to have children.
Fighting back tears, she lamented that if her late mother were alive, she would have been by her side dur
ing this difficult time.
