Kenya celebrated its 61st Jamhuri Day with a grand ceremony led by President William Ruto at the Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.
The event showcased Kenya’s cultural heritage, military precision, and achievements since independence.
President Ruto honored several distinguished individuals with presidential commendations for their contributions to national development.
Among the awardees were Chief of Defense Forces General Francis Kahariri and Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome, recognized for enhancing national security.
A highlight of the event was the Wajir Air Base receiving presidential colors, symbolizing its strategic importance to Kenya’s defense and regional stability. In his address, President Ruto lauded his administration’s progress in infrastructure, healthcare, and security, emphasizing unity and economic growth.
While the celebrations were largely festive, dissent was reported in some regions, such as Nyandarua, where residents voiced frustrations over unmet promises. This year’s Jamhuri Day reflected Kenya’s resilience and ambition despite ongoing challenges.
