Kenya Is Facing Moral Crisis – Dorcas Rigathi, Wife Ex Deputy President
By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
Dorcas Rigathi, wife of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has expressed deep concern over the state of Kenya’s morality and governance, pointing to increasing corruption and declining social values.
Speaking at an event held at Kamukunji Grounds in Nyeri, Dorcas emphasised the urgent need for the nation to return to its spiritual roots.
She warned that the country is on a dangerous path, stating: “We cannot pretend that everything is fine in Kenya, it is not.”
She lamented the prevalence of moral decay, suggesting that many have turned away from faith and embraced dishonesty and unethical behavior.
Delivering part of her message in Kikuyu, she pointed out: “You can see the growing evils… many no longer honor their God, and this is evident even on social media.”
Dorcas reminded Kenyans to lead righteous lives, urging them to avoid sinful behavior, even in private, as divine judgment is inevitable.
“You may hide your actions from people, but you cannot hide from God. A day will come when He will judge, and everyone will witness it,” she warned.
On corruption, she called for ethical leadership and accountability, urging Kenyans to pray for the nation and seek divine intervention.
Citing scripture, she invoked God’s promise to heal the land if people turn to Him with genuine repentance.
“God is seeking righteous individuals who can stand firm and correct wrongdoing,” she said.
The event, however, ended abruptly after chaos erupted when a group of unidentified individuals disrupted the gathering.
Dorcas was forced to leave the venue as tensions escalated.
Her remarks come amid ongoing debates about Kenya’s governance, social values, and the role of religion in addressing these challenges.
