The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a significant drop in fuel prices for the December pricing cycle, providing much-needed relief to Kenyan motorists and businesses.
According to EPRA, the reductions are attributed to favorable trends in global oil markets and adjustments in local taxation policies.
The price of Super Petrol has been reduced by Ksh 5 per liter, Diesel by Ksh 8, and Kerosene by Ksh 7.
The new prices will take effect from midnight and remain in place until the next review. The revised pricing brings the cost of Super Petrol in Nairobi to Ksh 191.24 per liter, Diesel to Ksh 172.01, and Kerosene to Ksh 155.13.
This development comes as a relief for Kenyans facing high living costs, particularly during the festive season. Lower fuel prices are expected to reduce transportation and production costs, potentially lowering the prices of goods and services.
EPRA has emphasised that the reduction was made possible by a stabilized global crude oil market and government measures aimed at cushioning consumers.
