KENYA: Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria Praised For Transforming Pipeline Estate In Nairobi
By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
The Chief Officer of Health in Nairobi County, Geoffrey Mosiria, is winning the hearts of many residents and netizens for his hands-on approach to sanitation and urban cleanliness with Pipeline estate being his latest success story.
Pipeline, long known for its congested environment and poor waste management, has recently undergone a visible transformation under the watch of Mosiria and other county officials.
Previously, the area outside residential flats was littered with heaps of garbage, making it an eyesore and a health hazard. Now, the streets are cleaner, and order is gradually being restored.
On a recent visit to the area, Mosiria led a comprehensive clean-up exercise and introduced a new directive to the public: all household waste must be disposed of in polythene bags and handed over to designated collectors, who will then transport it to the Dandora dumpsite. The directive aims to streamline waste management and curb the long-standing issue of illegal dumping.
In a bold move to ensure compliance, Mosiria warned that landlords and caretakers will be held accountable if their premises or surroundings are found littered again.
“We will arrest and arraign any landlord or caretaker who fails to ensure proper garbage disposal,” he declared during the clean-up event, stressing the importance of responsibility among property managers.
This is not the first time Geoffrey Mosiria has captured public attention. He previously led the successful reorganization and cleaning of the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), where he relocated hawkers to designated areas to reduce congestion and littering.
His firm yet inclusive leadership style has drawn admiration from many Nairobians.
His work, often showcased on TikTok and other social media platforms, continues to inspire hope and praise, with users commending his dedication and practical solutions.
Many have described him as a leader who not only speaks change but gets his hands dirty to make it happen.
As Pipeline residents begin to enjoy a cleaner environment, many are hopeful that Mosiria’s model will be replicated across other estates in Nairobi proving that with the right leadership, even the most neglected areas in Kenya can be transformed.
