KENYA: Celebrities React As Mulamwah And Ruth K Clash Online, Share Private Videos and Later Apologize
By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
The public fallout between Kenyan comedian Mulamwah and his former partner Ruth K has escalated dramatically, drawing attention and criticism after the ex-couple went as far as threatening to release private videos of each other threats which they later acted on before issuing public apologies.
The bitter online exchange, which initially began with subtle jabs, quickly intensified with both parties accusing each other of betrayal, manipulation, and clout-chasing.
In a shocking turn, the two shared personal clips aimed at tarnishing each other’s image. The move sparked outrage among fans and celebrities alike, with many questioning the lengths to which online personalities are now willing to go for attention.
Following the backlash, both Mulamwah and Ruth K issued apologies to their followers, admitting that the content shared crossed the line. They acknowledged the emotional harm and disappointment caused, especially to the fans who once looked up to them as a couple.
Ruth K expressed regret over her actions, while Mulamwah admitted that the feud had gotten out of hand and promised to handle such matters privately going forward.
Celebrities have since weighed in. Flaqo urged fans not to idolize social media relationships, calling the drama “a performance,” and warning viewers that what they consume online is often curated to manipulate emotions.
Thee Pluto advised public figures to think before acting in anger, warning that such outbursts can permanently damage one’s career. Bahati, taking a more compassionate stance, called for prayer and healing, especially for the innocent child caught in the crossfire.
The scandal has reignited conversations around online ethics, privacy, and the emotional toll of digital fame in Kenya’s entertainment scene. Many fans have called on the former couple to take accountability and prioritize dignity over digital drama.
