Kenya is marking a significant milestone, celebrating 60 years of global diplomatic engagement and peacekeeping contributions.
The celebrations, organized by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, will run from November 26 to December 7, showcasing the country’s achievements in fostering unity, economic integration, and global stability since gaining independence in 1963.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi underscored Kenya’s commitment to international collaboration.
“Since 1964, we have grown from six missions to 68 across the globe, demonstrating our dedication to being a global partner for peace and progress,” he stated.
Mudavadi highlighted Kenya’s active role in 43 peacekeeping missions worldwide, calling it a testament to the country’s enduring focus on stability and unity.
Kenya’s diplomatic history began with missions in Beijing, Moscow, London, Bonn, Cairo, and New York. Today, the nation’s influence extends to shaping critical global conversations, including its recent selection for a third term at the United Nations Security Council in 2021.
“Kenya continues to lead in fostering peace and economic integration, not only within Africa but globally,” Mudavadi emphasized during a press conference in Nairobi.
The commemorations will include discussions on foreign policy, exhibitions showcasing diplomatic achievements, and public forums on Kenya’s role in international relations.
