By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
A group of 114 #EndBadGovernance protesters, including 30 minors, arrived at the State House Auditorium in Abuja on Monday after an order for their release by President Bola Tinubu.
The protesters were received around 2:00 pm by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu in welcoming them before they were handed over to their respective state governors.
Their release was facilitated by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, following the dismissal of charges by Justice Obiora Egwatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
This dismissal came as part of an initiative by the Attorney General’s office, marking a significant gesture of reconciliation after the #EndBadGovernance protests.
The event drew high-profile attendees, including Deputy Senate President Jubrin Barau, Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation Abubakar Bichi, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf. Several federal ministers were also present, among them the Minister of Education Tunji Alausa, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Nentawe Yilwatda, and Minister of Environment Balarabe Lawal.
Other notable attendees included the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Tanko Sununu and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (Northwest), Abdullahi Yakasai.
