Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited has said that efforts to locate additional victims of Thursday’s tragic helicopter crash in Port Harcourt are ongoing, as search and rescue teams work tirelessly to recover bodies from the wreckage.
The helicopter, operated by East Winds Aviation, crashed on October 24, with only three bodies recovered so far.
In a press statement released Sunday, the NNPC announced that, despite intensified search efforts in collaboration with relevant authorities, no further bodies have been found.
The statement, signed by NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to support the ongoing operation and expressed deep sympathy for the families affected.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the families of those impacted by this unfortunate incident,” Soneye stated, underscoring the corporation’s solidarity with the families during this challenging time.
As the search continues, aviation experts have joined rescue efforts to locate the remaining victims and investigate the cause of the crash.
With authorities conducting a thorough investigation, local communities and officials are said to be actively supporting the operation, offering resources to aid search teams combing the crash site.
