Ga’anda traditional dancers from Gombi local government area of Adamawa State, in Nigeria, are known for their unique and romantic dance styles. The Kuya dance is a competitive performance by young men and women by the riverside with a calabash placed on top of a tree for winners to carry home.
All young men in the village are expected to dance and compete over ladies of their choice. Those who fail to dance well are being teased in songs purposely composed for them.
